Starting on the 12th Dec 2011 the feed in tarrifs for Solar PV will be cut in halve.
What does this mean if you want Solar PV installed ?
Well of course the payback period will be extended, but it may still be worth investing. This technolgy should not be confused with Solar heating panels (used to heat water). See link below for more details on the tarrifs:

What about the RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) ?
If you already have Solar panels, or Solar PV, or a Heat Pump, etc, then you might be eligible:
" ... anybody who has installed an eligible technology since 15th July 2009" may qualify. If like me, you already have a system installed before that date, then you'll be wondering if you can claw any money back ! However, as the government hasn't yet published it's proposals for the scheme it's very difficult to guess what will happen. Again don't confuse RHI with Renewable Heat Premium Payments.
